Meet Carly Compton!
Carly Compton is an expert in eating disorders, body image, self-esteem, and the general connections between physical and mental health. Currently in her final year of the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), she is specializing in Integrated Health and developing an eating disorder curriculum for middle and high schools for her master’s thesis. She will pursue her Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification shortly after graduation.
Carly believes that every individual is capable of healing and that everyone deserves their own unique treatment plan. She is non-judgmental, compassionate, empowering, and supportive. Carly has experience leading community support groups, working 1:1 with individuals, and connecting individuals to resources to aid their healing. Carly received her Bachelor’s (B.A.) degree in Elementary Education from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and has years of experience working in school settings as both an educator and, more recently, as a Mental Health Specialist.
At Pacific Mind Spa, Carly uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) techniques (Phase I-III), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to work with individuals. She is also obtaining her certification in mindfulness to aid her utilization of DBT and other modalities in working with clients. Carly is unique in her ability to be supportive, empowering, and kind-hearted no matter the situation!
