Resource Guidelines
When seeking resources and referrals, it is generally recommended to contact your insurance company and request a list of in-network (INN) providers near your home. Insurance companies can provide a list sorted by geographic location, depending on the requested resource or referral. Call the "Mental Health" phone number on the back of your insurance card, or call "Member Services" if there is not a mental health phone number. Another option is to request an insurance case manager to assist in locating mental health resources. The case manager can contact programs directly on your behalf to find a provider or program with openings within your insurance network. To obtain a case manager, you must usually tell your insurance company that you have been unsuccessful in locating a resource on your own and your provider has recommended this treatment as a medical necessity. If the insurance representative declines, request to speak with a supervisor and persist that your treatment is medically necessary.
Obtaining Additional Help
Our office has the following general resources and community referrals. Please check insurance coverage prior to enrollment. Another option is to contact 211 and provide your home address and request a resource list with your requested resource. Alternately, you can use Google Maps with the location centered around your home and type in the resource that you are seeking to view a map centered around your residence. When contacting programs or providers, have your insurance information available to confirm that your plan is accepted on an In-Network (INN) basis. Many programs may inform you that your insurance is accepted, but on an out-of-network (OON) basis. Out-of-network providers and programs will typically cost much more and thus we recommend that you seek programs in-network with your insurance plan.
